Making a Camera Bag for the Safari

So when you are on an overlanding trip, there are a lot of different styles of overlanding trucks.  I found this blog that showed that the Intrepid Travel (my tour operator, more info later!) truck was actually probably going to be pretty cozy and clean, but you just never know!  Some trucks have you sitting in the open with only a canopy above you.  It gets pretty dusty too.

A couple of blogs really warned about changing out our camera lens with such dust blowing this and that way.  So, I thought to myself, maybe I should come up with a bag for this?  Something that could be easily accessible to hold different lens and yet be covered so I didn't have to worry about dust getting into my camera.

It started with the prototype - proving that I knew what I had in mind!

Then, the true planning - a blueprint?  Just what an engineer needs...

Hard at work!  With my dad to help!  (Thanks Dad!)

And the beautiful final result...

It's big.  I know.  But imagine sitting with the bag on your lap - so much versatility!  With a zipper to close it off from the dust!

  1. Dad is using his engineering precision with the camera bag! May I suggest you add a cursive A like Laverne and Shirley would have on their sweaters? :)

  2. Oooo, what a lovely idea! But I certainly am not THAT talented with a needle. :)
