We used Avignon as our home base for travels around Provence - what a lovely city! We also used Airbnb to rent a great apartment during this time which was fanstastic - lots of space, in the heart of Avignon and with views of the Palais des Papes! Every morning I walked a couple of blocks, picked up some fresh expresso and croissants for breakfast - the quintessential French breakfast experience!
Palais des Papes:
Pont Saint-Bénézet (aka Pont d'Avignon) - we walked over and then realized that there was soon going to be a thunderstorm! We took some great photos with the looming clouds and then hoofed it back to the apartment - made it back just in time!
