Iceland: Close to the Skogafoss waterfalls and Reynisfjará beach

We drove through some lovely towns and saw more waterfalls!  The Skogafoss waterfalls is where we saw the ponies but the land surrounding it was quite beautiful also.

Who ever lives here has the best view of the Skogafoss waterfalls:

Then we headed to Reynisfjará beach - the waves were monstrous and have been known to pull in people into the deep Atlantic depths.  It was very cloudy and snowy at first but then cleared up.  It was really awesome that I have now gotten to see basalt lava columns in my third country - first Northern Ireland, then Scotland, and now here!

By the way, those waves are crazy - my mom tried to get away but ended up getting a little drenching by the Atlantic.

Then on our way to the hotel, we drove through kilometers of lava fields - so beautiful in the snow but can only imagine how it would look in the spring and summer when it is covered in a moss.
