I have always wanted to see the Northern Lights. And when I traveled around the world, most people would tell me that Iceland was in their top 3 places in the world that they had visited. So I figured, why not check it out?
We (my mom and I) had a great deal from IcelandAir for this trip. And the overall trip has been great!
We started out relaxing in Reykjavik - well, I apparently slept for 8 hours solid as soon as we arrived. Guess work had tuckered me out before leaving on vacation! Then the tour started... We started with the famous Gullfoss Falls. It was snowy and blizzardy but then cleared up long enough for these photos!
We then headed to the Strokkur hot springs area where we had a beautiful view:
And then delicious Rye Bread baked in the Geothermal Sands and dug up after 24 hours, cooled in the lake (see pot below) and then smoothered in butter and ended up in my belly. Delicious!!!
We then headed to Geysir to see the ... you guessed it - geysirs! :D These were the tourists patiently waiting for the eruption:
And then bam! It erupted!
But then it cleared up more and this was the gorgeous view around the hot springs:
And a very beautiful random waterfall that we got to photograph.
