The Samye Monastery was the first Buddhist Monastery built. It was certainly one of my favorite sites visited. The hill for the monastery was covered in prayer flags in memory of the thousands who died in the 2010 earthquake in China.
In the mornings, the monks will chant. We were lucky to see that the following day of our visit, but unfortunately didn't have much time as we were rushed out.
