From Glencoe to the Isle of Mull, there are many single track roads which lends itself to beauty but is a very time consuming drive. You can also take several ferries but the one we drove to was the Lochaline to Fishnish.
I am glad that I semi-insisted on this trip as we saw some really beautiful places here and also had the time of our lives meeting and talking with the locals. Tobermory and the Isle of Mull should be on your must-do list!
Ballachulish Quarry walk:
Drive to Isle of Mull:
South of Bunessan - there are gorgeous white sandy beaches. I suspect that in the dead of summer, they clear away the kelp and the beach is truly a thing of beauty. We lucked out and the sun came out for us and you can see from the pictures how nice this place was. We actually had a small picnic on some rocks and before we knew it, the tide had come in and we had to run through the water to get back to shore. Oops!
Tobermory itself was beautiful and very picturesque. A must visit!
The yellow building had the Mishnish bar which is the happening place to be. It's where Sonja and I also got to spend the evening speaking with Sammy (I think one of the oldest residents on the Isle) - or rather, screaming - he was a bit deaf. But the cutest. I think by the end of the second night, Douglas (or as I think of him, Dougie), the bartender, really warmed up to us! :)
And, one of the best seafood restaurants in the UK just happens to be here - Cafe Fish - well worth a visit. Yum!
